Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st September the Severn Valley hosted my favourite event of the year the Autumn Steam Gala. This year was a bit of a different Gala for me, being involved in shunting and set up on the Wednesday around Kidderminster and guarding Saturday Evening into the early hours on Sunday morning. This is something I’ve usually not done on previous years, but it was nice being involved. The Visiting locos were all first timers to the Valley featuring East Lancs Jinty 47298, NCB 49 from Tanfield, this allowing a NCB double header with 813 (NCB 11). 35006 P&O also made its first time visit from GWSR and this the first ever Merchant Navy on the Valley, followed by 73082 Camelot from the Bluebell. All the locos were great to have on the Valley and were popular visitors to the line. The Gala was a cracking event and well done to everyone at the SVR for creating something for everyone to enjoy. My personal favourite was having the Jinty back on the Valley, after growing up with 47383, which was the Junior Club loco which I was in. It brought back memories from my younger years. Only the visiting locos are included in this video, with home fleet locos taken a back seat.
